NotesA birth registration was found for Andrew Brander: Andrew Brander, born December 17, 1886; 10:15 a.m.; Garmouth, Parish of Urquhart, Morayshire, Scotland. Parents: George Brander, Ferrar and Isabella Brander m.s. Duncan, married June 30, 1885.

George Brander, Sr. died suddenly of heart disease at the age of 80 in 1890 at Garmouth, Urquhart, Moray, Scotland.

Isabella Duncan Brander died in 1891 of phthisis, 1 year, complicated by childbirth.

In 1894, Andrew Brander, 7, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 139 Quarriers children en route to Brockville, Ontario, Canada.

On June 6, 1917, John Andrew Brander, 28, registered for the United States Draft. He declared that he was living at Lisbon, New York; that he was born December 24, 1889; that he had declared intention to become a United States citizen; that he was born in Garmouth, Scotland; that he was a British subject; that he was employed in farm labour; that he was employed by Lewis Smithers on a farm in Lisbon, New York; that he was single; and that he had had "no military service of any kind at all." He was described as medium height; black hair; blue eyes.

On March 29, 1918, at Weslyan Parsonage, Lisbon, New York, USA, a marriage was registered between John Andrew Brander, 29, and Leola F. Smithers, daughter of Lewis Smithers and Emma Kelvington.

John Andrew and Leola F. Smithers Brander had at least 2 children: Lewis William Brander (1921 ? 1981); and Wendell Brander (1924 ? 2006)

John Andrew Brander died on June 21, 1961 in New York. Leola F. Smithers Brander died of pneumonia on March 24, 1963, at ABH Hospital, Ogdensburg, New York. Both are buried at White Church Cemetery, Lisbon, New York, USA.
