Notes In 1905, May Brindley, 13, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 104 Barnardo girls accompanied by their matron Mrs. Lloyd, and en route to Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.
On April 6, 1913, at Hazelbrae House, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, May Brindley, 20, domestic, died of mitral regurgitation (the abnormal leaking of blood through the mitral valve, from the left ventricle into the left atrium of the heart) and aortic stenosis (under some circumstances, the aortic valve becomes narrower than normal, impeding the flow of blood); and anthemia(?). She is buried in Little Lake Cemetery, Peterborough, Canada, along with 46 other children who passed away at Hazlebrae House.
