NotesIn 1886, Ellen Brinkworth, 11, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 7 children from Chippenham Union and sent by the Church of England Waifs & Strays, en route to Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada.

Ellen was placed with Mrs. Harris, 1370 Dorchester Street, Montreal, Quebec, Canada on November 10, 1887.

On August 25, 1898, at New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada, Ellen Brinkworth married John Henry Ledger.

At least 3 children were born of this marriage: Henry John Ledger, born June 8, 1898, in Manitoba, Canada; Grace Ledger, born July, 1900; and Ernest Ledger, born September, 1901.

In 1908, Ellen Ledger, 33, housewife, returned to the United Kingdom with her husband, John, 38, labourer, and children: Harry, 8; Grace: 5; and Ernest, 1. They returned on June 5, 1908, on the ship Empress of Britain.

On January 15, 1923, Ellen Ledger, 48, housewife, and her husband, John H. Ledger, 52, labourer, returned to England on the ship Marloch. Their proposed address in the United Kingdom was Tenterden, Kent (John's place of birth). They intended to return to Canada.

John Henry Ledger died at the age of 78 on May 14, 1950, in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.

Ellen Brinkworth Ledger died at the age of 79 on July 8, 1953, in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada.
