On July 3, 1917, Arthur Briscoe enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he resided at Clifford, Ontario, Canada; that he was born in London, England; that his next of kin was Isabell Briscoe, his sister, who resided at 30 Trant Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; that he was born August 7, 1899; that he was not married; and that he was a blacksmith. He was described as 5 foot 5-1/2 inches in height; light complexion; grey eyes; and brown hair.
