On November 20, 1925, at Toronto, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Margaret Cathcart, 20, born in Ireland, to James Cathcart and Agnes Shields; and Hugh Mawhinney, 24, farm labourer, born in Ireland to Andrew Mawhinney and Jane Kennedy. Witnesses were John Stanners and Gladys Sharp, both of Dr. Barnardo's Homes, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Hugh and Margaret Cathcart Mawhinney had at least one child: Kenneth Cathcart.
