NotesAfter her father (John H. Chappelow) death in 1908. Her mother Sarah Christabella was unable to care for her 6 children. The 2 eldest sons were of age to work, and the youngest son was kept with her in England. 3 children, my grandmother Ethel and her 2 brothers Edward Ernest and Stephen Henry were sent to Barnardo's Home then sent to Canada in 1910. Ethel went to HazelBrae in Peterborough and her brothers went to Toronto. From there Ethel was sent to be a housemaid to the Willson family in Ridgetown, Ontario. Married Roy Towsley in 1921 and had 8 children. She did kept in touch with her brothers and family in England.
