In 1901, Albert Clapham, 2 years of age was shown as a patient in the Statutory Hospital for Infectious diseases, Bath, Somerset, England. (Source: 1901 Census of England; Class: RG13; Piece: 2337; Folio: 46; Page: 8.) [EDITORS NOTE: In 1901, his mother, Florence Louisa Clapham, was shown as a pauper at Bath Union Workhouse, Bath, Somerset, England.)

In 1902, Florence Louisa Clapham married Frederick Tugwell in Bath, Somerset, England. The Tugwells had three children: Frederick James Tugwell, born 1903; Sydney George Tugwell, born 1905 (died 1906); and Sydney George Tugwell, born 1910.

In 1907, Albert E. Clapham, 8, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 349 Barnardo children en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

In 1911, Albert Claphan, was shown as a boarder at residence of Rachael Adamson, in Novar, Perry Township, Parry Sound District, Ontario, Canada, along with three other boys: John Welsh; William Hansford; and Alfred Griggs, at least two of them also being Barnardo boys. His date of birth is shown as June 1899 and his immigration year as 1908.

On August 31, 1923, at Huttonville, Peel, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Albert Ernest Clapham, 25, knitter, born in England to Albert Clapham (could not furnish mother's name); and Mirian (Miriam) Preston, 20, looper in woolen mill, born in England to Joseph Preston and Harriet Ann Langley.

Albert and Miriam Preston had six children: William Albert Clapham, born 1927; Rawson Edward Clapham, born 1930; Ronald H. D. Clapham; Charles Henry Clapham; Kathleen Clapham; and Ethel Irene Clapham.

Albert Ernest Clapham died on August 18, 1980, at the age of 82, at Brampton, Peel County, Ontario, Canada. Miriam Preston Clapham died October 25, 1997, at the age of 94, at Brampton, Peel County, Ontario, Canada.
