NotesBorn in Kensington, London, 16 March 1890,second child of Henry Cliffen and Blanche Hinton. Father Henry died 1899, and in 1901 he was in a children's home in Bethnal Green. After Charles, Blanche had two daughters, one died 1897 and the other died 1907. Charles followed his older brother Walter out to Canada. he went to the Children's Home in Hamilton first of all and in 1907 was a farm labourer. As well as being widowed and looking after a sick daughter, Blanche was also living with her blind mother. Her mother died 1910 and sometime between 1911 and 1913 Blanche went to Canada, I presume, to find her sons.She did find them. In January 1914 she married again, George Caughell, a Canadian farmer. Charles married Louisa Hamilton in 1916 and at some point they moved to Riverside, California. She died 1962 and he in 1967.
