Notes In 1901, Walter Cutridge, aged 8 was found boarding along with his mother Maria and siblings Stephen, 18, and Frederick, 6, in the home of Henry Williams in Leaveland, Kent
(As of 1911, his brother Frederick, 16, was residing in the Dr Barnardo Watts Naval Training School in Norfolk)
On December 13 1915, Ernest Walter Cutridge enlisted into the Canadian Army, he declared his birthplace as Faversham, Kent and that his next of kin was his guardian Mrs A J Flay, Belle Vue, Ontario and that he was living in Hume, Saskatchewan
On April 8 1917, Ernest Walter Cutridge was wounded in the stomach by an enemy machine gun bullet, while taking part with his battalion in the attack on Vimy Ridge. He was evacuated to the No. 1 Canadian Field Ambulance where he succumbed to his wounds the following day on April 9th.
He is buried in Quatre Vents Military Cemetery.
