NotesA birth registration was found for Francisco Darinis: Year of Registration: 1885; Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep; District: West Derby; County: Lancashire; Volume: 8b; Page: 390. (Parents: Francisco Darinis and Elizabeth Smith.)

In 1891, Francisco Darinis, 5 years of age, was residing with his mother, Elizabeth Darinis, 37, at the home of his maternal grandfather, William Smith, 74, shipwright, at 41 Albion Street, Everton, Lancashire, England. Other family members residing at this home were Cleopatra Smith, 28; George Smith, 10; and Sophia Penn. (Source: 1891 Census of England; Class: RG12; Piece: 2953; Folio 74; Page 3; GSU roll: 6098063.) [EDITORS NOTE: Another child, Elizabeth Darinis, was born in 1891, but died the same year.)

In 1895, Frank Darisins, 10, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, along with a group of 43 boys en route to Knowlton, Quebec, Canada, accompanied by Mr. Drumond.

On April 13, 1910, in the Holiness Movement Church, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, a marriage was registered between Francis Darinis, of age, foreman, son of Francisco Darinis and Elizabeth Smith; and Mabel Agnes Sadler, of age, housekeeper, daughter of John Sadler and Agnes Whitefield.

On December 12, 1916, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Frank Darinus, 28, re-enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was residing with the 14th Co. Canadian Army Service Corps; that he was born in Liverpool, England; that his next of kin was his wife, Mabel Agnes Darinus, who resided in Saskatchewan, Canada; that he was born July 11 1888; that he was a teamster by trade; and that he was currently serving in the 14th Co. Canadian Army Service Corps. He was described as 5 foot 6-1/2 inches in height; dark complexion; brown eyes; and dark brown hair. He was a member of the Methodist faith.

Little is known about Frank after the war. Family members state that his father, Francisco, was a longshoreman. A story exists that Frank was married only a short time to Mabel Agnes Sadler. There was also a story that "Frank" was in eastern Canada and assisted survivors of the sunken Titanic.
