Richard arrived in Fremantle, Western Australia aboard ‘Baradine’ on Christmas Day, 1934. He was placed at Fairbridge Farm School, Pinjarra WA. He served as a Trooper, 2/2 AUSTRALIAN COMMANDO SQUADRON 1943-46:
