NotesIn 1883, Emma Dawson, 10, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 126 children en route to various destinations.

"Report of Mr. John Smith, Government Immigration Agent at Hamilton, Ontario, on girls brought out from the West Derby and State Workhouses by Miss Rye as of December 18, 1884.

Emma Dawson, 10. John Garbutt, farmer. Beamsville. A very bright, good, and obedient child. Being adopted, goes to Protestant Sunday school and church. The home is a very desirable one and the parties are very fond of her.
