NotesIn 1905, the Kensington docked at Halifax, then Portland, where 269 boys, including Charles DeFoss, 10, disembarked. The original list was lost and a list prepared in 1934 appears on the reel.

In 1911, Charles Defoss, 13, domestic / labourer for Colin Graham and family in Mariposa, Victoria-Haliburton, Ontario, Canada. His date of birth is shown as September 1898, and his immigration year as 1905.

On April 3, 1915, Charles DeFoss enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in Hull, Yorkshire, England; that his next of kin was his mother, Mrs. Christina DeFoss, who resided in the Union Workhouse, Hull, Yorkshire, England; that his date of birth was April 1, 1893; that he was a farmer; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 4-1/2 inches in height; fair complexion; dark blue eyes; and dark brown hair. He was a member of the Methodist faith.
