NotesOn Feb 19 1879, Louis, 4, was admitted to St Pancras Workhouse from Highgate

On March 14 1879, Louis Divine, 4, admitted from the Workhouse to St Pancras Industrial School, next of kin-not known,

In 1887, Louis Devine, 12, arrived at Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, in a group of 10 boys from Barton Regis, Bristol, England.

"From the Reports of Inspection of Pauper Children sent out to Canada made by Immigration Officers of the Dominion Government and received from the Colonial Office on the 12th December 1888.

Louis Devine, aged 12. From parish of St. Pancras. Placed with Jas. Cochrane, Petersville Parish, four miles from Welsford Station, Gagetown Road, Queen's County.?A bright good-looking lad, well, and has been; has a good home, likes it much, would not leave it. Never wants to see England again; his master and mistress like him, and said he was a very good boy, and so said the lad himself. There are several Bristol boys in this vicinity; one Underdown, aged 20, is also with this Mr. Cochrane; he too extols the place and people. Churches and schools in close proximity."
