NotesIn 1887, William Duffy, 14, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 117 Quarrier boys en route to Mrs. Wallace, Marchmont Home, Belleville, Ontario, Canada.

On June 7, 1915, at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, William Duffy, 38, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in Glasgow, Scotland; that his next of kin was his sister, Katherine Duffy, who resided at 22 Kent Street, Glasgow, Scotland; that his date of birth was February 8, 1877; that he was a teamster; that he was not married; and that he had previously served for 12 years in the 90th Regt Cameronians. He was described as 5 foot 6 inches in height; fair complexion; grey eyes; brown hair. He was a member of the Presbyterian faith.

On July 24, 1915, William Duffy was discharged as Undesirable by the the Lieut. Colonel, commanding officer of the 61st Overseas Battalion.

On August 2, 1915, at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, William Duffy, 40, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in Glasgow, Scotland; that his next of kin was his mother, Elizabeth Duffy, who resided at 89 Cumberland Street (East), Glasgow, Scotland; that his date of birth was February 8, 1875; that he was a blacksmith; that he was not married; and that he had previously served in the 100th Winnipeg Grenadiers, the 79th Cameron Highlanders and Cameronians, Imperial Service. He was a member of the Presbyterian faith.
