In 1887, Benjamin G Dunford, 12, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 209 Barnardo boys en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

On April 30, 1902, at Russell, Manitoba, Canada, a marriage was registered between Benjamin George Dunford, 26, farmer, born in Bath, England, to Morris Dunford and Sarah Collins; and another home child, Julia Agnes Anderson, 27, born in Sunderland, England, to Charles Anderson and Margaret Greener. Benjamin George and Julia Agnes Anderson Dunford had at least 4 children: Florence "Emily" Dunford, born February 7, 1904, in Russell, Manitoba, Canada; William "Garnet" Dunford, born March 28, 1906, in Russell, Manitoba, Canada; Patricia Dunford, born July 25, 1909, in Manitoba, Canada; and Harold Dunford, born about 1913 in Saskatchewan, Canada.

On March 22, 1916, at Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada, Benjamin George Dunford, 29, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he resided at Wroxton, Saskatchewan, Canada; that he was born in Bath, Somerset, England; that his next of kin was his wife, July Dunford, who resided at Wroxton, Saskatchewan, Canada; that his date of birth was January 8, 1877; and that he was a barber. He was described as 5 foot 9 inches in height; dark complexion; blue eyes; black hair. He was a member of the Church of England.

"DUNFORD, Benjamin George and Julia

They both emigrated to Canada from England in 1886 [sic] and met at Russell, Man. where they were married in 1902. George and Julia moved to Wroxton, Sask. in 1911 where Mr. Dunford was a barber. George served in the First World War overseas with the 188th battalion. He hauled supplies to the front line with a team of mules. They left Wroxton in 1919 and moved to the [Goldbank district north of] Stenen where they farmed until retirement in 1958 when they moved to Sturgis. George and Julia had four children Emily (Lloyd Chase); after Lloyd died, she later married (Clary Jones), Garnet (Eva), Pat (Stan Feader), Harold (Verna). George died in 1966 and Julia in 1975."
