Notes Alice was the daughter of Walter William Elsom 1861 ? 1885 and Alice Maud Bullock 1862 ? 1901.
She was born on Dec 4, 1882 and was admitted to Barnardo's on Sept 30 1889. Her mother signed the "Canada Clause". In 1892 she was boarded out in Stretham, Cambrdigeshire, Englad as a domestic servant. In 1897 she was returned to Barkingside.
On October 2 1897 Alice arrived in Canada aboard the SS Labrador and was boarded out to Miss J. A. Templeton Armstrong, a farmer in Port Dover, Ontario. She would then go to a Mrs. Jonathan Schofield as a domestic servant. By April 30 1900 she was returned to Hazel Brae, then went to Returned to Barnardo's Hazelbrae Home; boarded out 14 May to Mrs. D.W. Saunders, 26 Feb 1901 to Mrs. Palmer; 26 Jun 1901 to Mrs. Cameron; 20 Aug 1901 to Mrs. Cassels; 11 Mar 1904 to Mrs. Henwood - all in Toronto.
On September 14 1904 Alice married Arthur Roberts with whom she had one child. Arthur died in 1908 and on Oct 18 1909 she married Frederick George Allen. Three more children would follow. The family would eventually relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where Alice died in 1940 at the age of 58.
