In 1893, Emma Emptage, 11, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 35 Maria Rye children en route to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.

Emma was "adopted" by a family with the surname of Fraser who lived in Ontario.

On November 2, 1899, at Simcoe, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Emma Emptage, 20, born in England to Henry and Sarah Emptage; and Thomas Caithcart, 22, farmer, born in Innisfil Township, Ontario, Canada, to William and Mary Jane Caithcart.

At least 13 children were born of this marriage:

Mary Jane Caithcart, born February 2, 1901, Ontario, Canada;
Henry John Caithcart, born December 18, 1902, Ontario, Canada, he died in 1951 in in the Caithcart family farmhome, due to a house fire, Clouston, Saskatchewan, Canada;
William Thomas (Bill) Caithcart, born December 1, 1904, Ontario, Canada. Bill never married. He enjoyed sports & hunting. He lost his life, by lightning, when he was driving the tractor on the family farm (his younger brother, Maurice, was on the plow), in July 1949, Clouston, Saskatchewan, Canada;
Frederick Joseph (Freddie) Caithcart, born January 4, 1907, Ontario, Canada, died in infancy;
Lawrence E. Caithcart, born about 1908, Saskatchewan, Canada;
Emma Lilly Caithcart, born March 19, 1911, Viscount, Saskatchewan, Canada, and died December 16, 1984 in Paddockwood, Saskatchewan, Canada;
Maurice C. Caithcart, born about 1913, Saskatchewan, Canada;
Elizabeth D. Caithcart, born 1916, Saskatchewan, Canada, died young;
Elsie Pearl Caithcart, born about 1919 in Viscount, Saskatchewan, Canada; died October 20, 1966 in a tragic motor vehicle accident, in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada;
