Edward Ewers died in Hendon, Middlesex, England, at the age of 46 in 1898.

In 1901, Maud Mary Ewers, 5 years of age, was shown residing at 50 Villiers Road, Willesden, Middlesex, England, along with her mother, Harriett Amelia Ewers, 34, widow, charwoman. (Source: 1901 Census of England; Class: RG13; Piece: 1226; Folio: 7; Page: 6.)

In 1906, Maud Ewers, 10, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 215 Barnardo children en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. (Brother, Charles Ewers, arrived with 262 Barnardo children on the ship Dominion which landed in Quebec on May 7, 1907.)

On January 20, 1923, at Ottawa, Carleton, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registred between Maud Mary Ewers, 27, stenographer, born in England to Edward Ewers and Harriett Bourn; and James Carroll Hicks, 34, farmer, born in Kars, Ontario, Canada, to John Wesley Hicks and Ada Myrtle Depencier. Witnesses to the marriage were Charles Edward Ewers and Janet Ewers.
