NotesMr. David Fletcher
Funeral services were held in Emmanuel Church, Portland, on Wednesday July 17 for David Fletcher who passed away on Sunday July 14th in a Brockville Hospital. The late Mr. Fletcher was bron in Glasgow Scotland on November 4 1881. At the age of seven years he came to Canada and made his home with Mr. Nelson Polk of South Burgess. As a young man he went to the West where he worked for a time at the Dominion Experimental Farm at Indian Head, Saskatchewan. In 1906 he returned to the Portland area where he married Lena Polk. They moved to Forfar in 1909to the farm now occupied by his daughter Myrtena. His wife predeceased him in 1949. He is survived by two daughters Mrs. Morris Wood (Irene) of New Boyne and Mrs. Kenneth McVean (Myrtena) of Portland, and two granddaughters. Pallbearers were Glen Baker, John Chant, Wallace Blackman, John Myers, Raymond Hull and Tom Hull. On Monday night the members of Delta Oddfellows Lodge No. 265 conducted their service. Burial was made in Emmanuel Cemetery, Portland
