In 1910, James A. Fogg, 15 (along with his brother, John William Fogg, 11, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, with a group of 154 Middlemore children.

On November 22, 1915, James Arnold Fogg, 20, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in Birmingham, England; that his next of kin was his mother, Mrs. Kate Fogg, who resided in Robinson, Maine, USA; that his date of birth was April 28, 1895; and that he was a farmer. He was described as 5 foot 8-1/2 inches in height; fair complexion; blue eyes; brown hair. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
