NotesIn 1876, William Henry Gibbons, 7, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 68 Middlemore children en route to Guthrie Home, London, Ontario, Canada.

In 1881, Harry Gibbens, 13, is shown residing at the home of Henry and Ada Harris in Kingsville, Essex, Ontario, Canada.

On July 10, 1889, at Gosfield South Township, Essex, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Harry Gibbins, 21, moulder, born in England to unknown parents (Notation: "The young man who was married was sent out as a child."); and Minnie Barnett, 16, born in Gosfield South, Essex, Ontario, Canada, to Thomas and Jane Barnett.

In 1891, Harry Gibbins, 22, moulder, is shown residing at Gosfield, Essex South, Ontario, Canada, along with Minnie Gibbins, 18; Jane Long, 40; and Willie Long, 7.

In 1901, Harry Gibbins, 32, station engineer, is shown residing at Essex, Essex South, Ontario, Canada, along with his wife, Mary, 28; and children: Orley Gibbins, 9; Freddy Gibbins, 7; Florence Gibbins, 4; and Harry Gibbins, 2. His date of birth is shown as July 16, 1868, and his immigration year as 1875.

In 1911, Harry Gibbons, 41, is shown residing at Pearl Street, Kingville, Essex, Ontario, Canada, along with his wife, Mary, 38; children: Florence Gibbons, 13; Harry Gibbons, 12; and Jennie Gibbons, 7; and Mary's grandmother, Lucinda Atkins, 81.

On January 10, 1916, Harry Gibbins, 44, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he resided in Kingsville, Ontario, Canada; that he was born in London, England; that his next of kin was his daughter, Mrs. Albert Pittman, who resided at Kingsville, Ontario, Canada (originally his sister, Mrs. Walter Pitt, who resided at London, England, was entered, but was crossed out); that he was born July 16, 1871; that he was not married; and that he was a mechanic. He was described as 5 foot 7 inches in height; fair complexion; blue eyes; brown hair. He was a member of the Methodist faith.

Harry was severely injured and spent 8 months in Hospital (probably much of the time in a hospital in England). He returned from the war in October, 1917.

His son Fred also enlisted in December 1916 and also injured and returned in 1919 (also spending much time in hospital). Fred died in December, 1921. His son, William, never saw his father and knew very little about the family, if anything. His children were never told anything as well so they have grown up thinking there was something wrong with that side of their family, being told Fred Gibbons was crazy after returning from WWI and the family lived somewhere out east which turned out not to be true. After WWI when son, Fred died in 1921 the information on the death record was given by the brother Orley who stated that Fred's father's name was Wm. H. and there was no birthdate on any record but said he was born in London, England.

William Henry (Harry) Gibbons/Gibbins, married, a soldier in the Army for 23 years, died in August 1, 1920, at Victoria Hospital, London, Middlesex, Canada, at the age of 51. The cause of his death was stomach cancer and heart failure. Harry's death record has no birthdate and no place of birth, but the notice in the Kingsville Reporter says he had two sisters surviving in England (no names) and his headstone says 1866 to 1920. Harry was buried in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
