Parents: Robert Guppy and Beatrice Elizabeth Garrett, married 1905 in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, England.

On 20 June 1924, Arthur George Guppy, 12, birthplace given as Shepton Mallet, arrived in Canada, he declared that he intended to do farm work, his passage was paid by Dr Barnardo Homes, and his destination was Mr John W Hobday, 538 Jarvis St, Toronto, his next of kin was given as Guardians of Shepton Mallet Union

In 1930, Arthur wrote a letter to the Barnardo home stating that he was living in Oak Lake (probably Manitoba), Canada.
