On June 21 1924, Phyllis Mabel Hadlow, 14 1/2, arrived on SS Canada, her birthplace was given as Pembury, her intended occupation was domestic service and she intended to settle in Canada. Her passage was paid by the Waifs and Strays Society. She was going to Church Hostel for girls, 661 Huron St, Toronto, Ontario, her next of kin in England was her mother Mrs Painter, 9 Carlton Terrace, Crowborough

Emily had another child Vera in 1900 who was sent to Canada in 1912 with Dr Barnardo's
