May 24 1900
Age 13, good home, employed at chores about the farm, good health, growing fast, attends Methodist Church, fair education, character-good tempered, honest and obedient. Terms-Board and Clothes for the present. Mr Sweetman states that the lad gives him good satisfaction. They appear to be fond of him. Edward Hance (should probably say Ernest) likes his situation; is happy and contented. He says he has a good home here.

November 24 1902

Terms-I understand his indenture with Mr Sweetman has not yet expired. Hance has been in Mr Williams employ since August last and is doing well. Mr Williams will engage him for another year. He is now receiving $10 per month and board. The wages I understand are handed over to Hance's former employer Mr Sweetman.
