NotesLeonard was born in Wincobank Sheffield, the son of Oliver Hankinson & Hannah Smith, who had 7 children. 1911 census aged 2yrs old.

On passenger list the next of kin was given as Dr Barnardo Homes, 18/26 Stepney Causeway, London destination-Friend Mr J W Hobday, 538 Jarvis St, Toronto, intended occupation-farming, birth place given as Sheffield

He stated that his father had tuberculosis but is now deceased.

A death of a Oliver Hankinson, 46, was registered in Oct Qtr of 1916 in Ecclesall Bierlow.

On 19 Aug 1942, Leonard Hankinson, 33, was killed in action while fighting with Royal Hamilton Light Infantry, R.C.I.C in France, his last residence in Canada was St Catherines, Ont. He was the son of Oliver and Hannah Louisa Hankinson. He is buried in St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France.
