Notesa birth of a Alma Hugh Hartfield was registered in Jan Qtr of 1885 in Brighton, Sussex

In 1891, William Darby, 42, Mary, 40, and Emily, 14, Alice, 12, James, 10, Fred, 8, Edith, 5, Bessie, 3, and lodgers Edward Hartfield, 30, wife Lucy, 29, Elma Hartfield. 5, Lucy, 4, and Alice, 8 months, in Hastings, Sussex

In 1901, Alma H Hartfield, 15, with George and Mary McManus in Mono, Cardwell, Ontario

On January 7th 1901, Alma Hartfield, 15 years, died at Mono, Dufferin, of Heart Dilations ( 2 months)

tragically her younger sister Alice came to Canada with Dr Barnardos in 1902 and also died of rheumatism and a heart condition aged 19.

I suspect Alma came with Barnardo's at some point but I have not managed to find her in the passenger records.
