On August 9, 1913, at Lot 16, Con 10, North Crosby, Leeds, Edith Hawkins, 9, an inmate of Dr. Barnardos Home, died of gunshot wounds and hemmorrhage.

Williams Acquitted of Young Girls Death

This is a brief item about the accidental death of Edith Hawkins age 9yrs caused by another child
Herbert Williams age 17yrs in Brockville. Both were Barnardo's children and both were adopted by Mr. Mrs David Leacock, Farmers.

Mr. Mrs Leacock "gave evidence in favour" of Herbert Williams and Mr C.H. Black, Toronto, representing the Barnardo's receiving home gave "character evidence" in favour of William.
