He declared that he resided at Honeywood, RR #2; that he was born in Sussex, England; that his next of kin was his mother, Mrs. Richard Hegarty, who resided at 34 Hoddington Street, Galt; that his date of birth was May 27, 1896; he was a labourer; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 9 inches in height; fair complexion; brown eyes; dark hair. He was a member of the Methodist faith.
George's mother, Emily Hegarty, married Alvin Dennis in 1918. She stated that her status was "Spinster."
On January 17, 1922, at Sandwich, Essex, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between George Joseph Hegarty, 25, motorman, born in Eastbourne, England, to Richard Hegarty and Emily Harvey; and Lillian Hamlin, 18, born Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada, to Francis Hamilin and Rose Hunt.
