He was described as 5 foot 3 inches in height; fair complexion; blue eyes; light brown hair. He was a member of the Church of England.
On October 7, 1926, at Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Clifford Hennings, 30, filer, born in Epsom, England, foster parents James and Ellen Cranston; and Beatrice Mosher, 28, born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, to James Mosher and Louisa Frederick.
At least one child was born on this marriage: Robert Hennings, born November 20, 1926, died March 16, 1938 of septicaemia and osteomyelitis.
