"Whenever I'm asked where I am from, I say Pinjarra because everybody knows where that is. Not everybody has heard of Fairbridge." he said. "But I'm not afraid to say I'm from Fairbridge. I didn't regret a moment of the 10 years I had there."

He was appointed Chief of Western Australia's longest serving emergency service of volunteer firefighters, responsible for fires outside the metropolitan area.
