Notes As far as I have learned, Louisa was brought to Canada at the age of 11 by Miss Rye in 1890. She was eventually placed with the Holman's of Durham West-Clarke Township. What happened to here from that time to when she married my great-great grandfather, Isaiah Steele is not known. She had 5 children, 3 of which died as children, one died in his early 20's. The only survivor was my great grandmother, Norah. Isaiah died in 1914, a mere 10 years after they married, leaving Louisa alone with 2 small children. She married again, this time to a Joseph Fairless, and again the marriage ended quickly with Joseph dying after only 10 years. Louisa passed away in 1932 (I believe) after battling breast cancer for 7 years, she was only 52 years old. I recently recieved unconfirmed information regarding a possible family of hers, but this is still being researched. I have learned that she was in a workhouse with her mother, Emma Cross, but is listed as illegitimate. The reason is unknown as she does have her father's last name. His full name is Henry (or possibly John) Hinson.
