September 6 1902

Age 15, Mr Tierney returned this boy to the Superintendant on 5th August last. He has been in a poor state of health since the month of February. A physician was consulted by Mr Tierney concerning his case and made the following report

Mancktick, 4th August

This boy Arthur Humphries has tubercular trouble in the left lung. He is unable to do any work on a farm, and will steadily be getting worse unless properly treated. He should without delay be placed in some sanitarium where he can get constant medical treatment, plenty of fresh air and rest.

Sgd R B McKay, M.D

Humphries is a bright, sensible, young fellow. He informs me he is much stronger since coming here. He has no complaints to make regarding his late employer who treated him with kindness. Mr Washington, the Superintendant, states that he is endeavoring to have the boy placed in the Gravenhurst Sanitarium for Consumptives and has made application for his admittance. It is alleged that his father died of consumption.

22 September 1902

I saw the boy today and his health and general appearance has greatly improved
