Notes A birth registration was found for Elizabeth May Kite: Date: Apr-May-Jun 1908; District: West Derby; County: Lancashire; Volume: 8b; Page: 258. Parents: William Francis Kite and Emma Walton, married June 2, 1901, at St John the Evangelist, Charlotte Street, Camden, Middlesex, England.
William Kite, Sr., was a sergeant in the Royal West Kent Regiment. Family stories indicate that the he had been a prisoner of war in Germany about 1916. He returned home to England in 1919, but shortly after could not be found, so his seven children were sent to child welfare. [William died in 1948 at the Star Garter military hospital.]
In 1921, Eliza M Kite, 13, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 134 Barnardo children en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was declared that her birthplace was Edmonton [Middlesex]; that her present occupation was as a school girl; that her intended occupation was as a school girl; that she was destined to Mr. Hobday, Hazel Brae, Peterboro, Ontario, Canada; and that her nearest relative in England was her father, Mr. F. Kite, who resided at 88 William Street, Regents Park, NW, London, England.
