The boys were discharged on February 17, 1897 to their father.

The boys were readmitted on January 14, 1898. On April 17, 1899, their father took the boys out of Norwood School, having obtained work. They were living at 132 Vauxhall Walk. He then deserted the boys and they were re-admitted to the workhouse on July 4, 1899.

In 1900, Chris Knowlden, 11 (along with brother, Raymond Knowlden, 9) arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 101 Barnardo boys en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Christopher Knowlden was placed on the farm of S. Bains, Grey County, Ontario, Canada.

Sent by Lambeth Union, residing at Dr Barnardo Home, 214 Farley Ave, Toronto,

January 28 1902

Age 13, I found this child at the above address. Owing to the ill usage to which he was subjected the Superintendant had him removed. See my last report. I afterwards visited the district and found that there existed considerable indignation amongst the farmers over the affair. The boy has received every attention here and is now much improved. He will be sent to Muskoka where he will be boarded for a time and attend school.
