NotesHis father died in 1907 and only the eldest boy remained with his mother. Herbert was found in the Talbot House for Boys in the 1911 census. He joined the CEF in 1915 (lied about his birthdate). He did return to England as he married my great-grandmother, Florence Rose Collins in December 1918 and moved to Toronto, Canada. They had two children, George b. 1919 and Kathleen Ida b. March 5, 1921 in London, England. Herbert was a steward on passenger ships and was often away. He and Florence divorced and we never heard from him again. He died in Scarborough, Ontario. I don't know what year.
