In 1901, Mabel Loach, 1 year of age, was shown residing at 14 Black Bull Road, Folkestone, Kent, England. Other family members included: Albert C. Loach, 5; Elizabeth Loach, 22; Frederick Loach, 32, fly proprietor and driver; and Frederick Loach, 6. (Source: 1901 Census of England; Class: RG13; Piece: 849; Folio: 40; Page: 15.)

By the time Mabel left for Canada, there were nine children born to this couple: Frederick Loach, Albert Edward Loach, William George Loach, Mabel Loach, Richard Loach (1900-1901), Herbert Loach, Horace Edwin Loach, George Loach, and Clarence William P Loach.

In 1914, Mabel Loach, 14, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 26 children en route to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada. (Her brother, Frederick Loach, arrived in 1910 on the Virginian with Waifs & Strays.)
