NotesIn 1901, William Lowe, 12, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 102 Middlemore children.

William was living with his sister Louisa in England after the death of his parents, becoming unruly he was placed into the care of the Middlemore Homes Birmingham just prior to be sent to Canada. He was the son of George Lowe (died 1896) and his wife Elizabeth. He had another brother Augustus George Lowe who had died in Warwickshire, United Kingdom in 1896.

The reports from his New Brunswicks placement records show that he had an unhappy time, he was placed in the care of farmers and had to work on the farm in the summer and then school in the winter. He ran away on at least one occasion after the farmer had hit him with a switch. Amongst the records there was a letter that William had sent to Middlemore Homes in the hope that it would reach his sister, as far as I know she never received it. William was by now 15, lodging and working at a saw mill in Marysville,York County, N.B. This would be the last notation in his records.

Nothing further is known at this time about William, these notes come from his family living in England.
