NotesEmma was born in Kent, England and had three sisters, Caroline, Edith and Gertie. It is not known what happened to them nor is it known how Emma came to be in Barnardos care. A brother died age two. Emma was shipped to Montreal, Quebec and then was transported to Peterborough, Ontario to a holding facility before being placed into service. It is not known who she worked for. She married in 1906 in Hamilton, Ontario and had four children; Gladys, Olive, Edwin and Ruth Borman. Gladys, Olive and Ruth stayed in Canada. Edwin moved to California, USA. Emma Mackrill died in 1968 having never been able to locate her sisters.
