Report of Mr. John Smith, Government Immigration Agent at Hamilton, Ontario.
Ellen McCulloch, 13. Mrs. Mary Marshall. Byng, near Dunville. This girl was returned to the home on the 16th of October 1884 for general disobedience and want of application.
Mrs. Marshall's family own a large farm and the home was a very desirable one had the girl conducted herself properly.
The girl is now living with Joseph Marr, Forks Road, Warnfleet. Marr is a well-to-do farmer and is highly spoken of. The girl attends a Protestant school and church and is doing a little better since her removal."

Ellen McCulloch, aged 12, from West Derby Union, placed with Mrs. Mary Marshall, farmer, Byng, Ontario. Tranferred to Joseph Marr, Fortis Road, a good farm home. This girl is weak and her eyes inflamed, dull intellect, character fair. She will never be able to support herself on arriving at maturity."
