Notes In 1887, James McEwen, 7, arrived in Canada in a group of 28 Middlemore children accompanied by Mr. John T. Middlemore and en route to the Guthrie Home, London, Ontario, Canada.

James McEwan, aged 7. From parish of St. George-in-the-East. Placed with John J. Douglass, Lot 23, Con. 13, Forest P.O., Tp. Plympton, Lambton, Ontario.? Honest, storyteller, obedient, goes to day school and church in summer, troubled with urinal discharges. Adopted into a good home, and very kindly treated."
