On July 17, 1908, George McHugo, 34, laborer, returned to the United Kingdom on the ship Empress of Britain.
On September 22, 1914, at Valcartier, Ontario, Canada, George M. McHugo, 40, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in Stratford, England; that his next of kin was Mrs. John Maskeon, who resided at 91 Harburt Road, Westham, London, England; that his date of birth was January 6, 1874; that he was a blacksmith; that he was not married; and that he had previously served for 13 months in the S.H. and 8 months in the 2nd M. RSA. He was described as 5 foot 4-1/2 inches in height; dark complexion; blue eyes; and dark brown hair. He was a member of the Catholic faith.
George survived the war and returned to Canada on the Acquitania on April 29, 1918, arriving in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
George McHugo died on August 6, 1946, at Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
