NotesSidney Walter Miles was born south of London in the Carshalton, Surrey. The particulars of his parentage and his life as a Barnardo Boy has yet to be researched. He came to Canada as one of a few hundred boys and girls who departed from Southampton Port on the S.S. Scandinavia on 17 March 1921. He was a bachelor until he married in Orillia Ontario in the 1950s to Marjory Alice Rubena JAMES, a widowed mother of four. Sid and Marjory did not have any children together but he was a good father to Marjory's children. He was a quiet spoken man, friendly and had a good sense of humour. He died at the age of 93 of Parkinson's disease and is buried in St. Andrew's St. James Cemetery in Orillia, Ontario.
