In 1883, Michael Minchan, 14, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 35 Roman Catholic children, accompanied by Rev. Thomas Seddon, of London, England, and en route to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

"Sixteenth Annual Report of the Local Government Board, 1886-87; Copy of Reports of Inspection of Children sent out to Canada, as of February 12, 1887.

Report of Mr. W. J. Wills, Government Immigration Agent at Ottawa, Ontario.

Michael Menshaw, from Richmond (Surrey) Union, placed with Mr. Carron, Amprior, Ontario. Made inquiry in several places in Amprior, could only find one family of the name of Carron, with whom the Sisters of St. Patrick Orphanage corresponded to take a child, but never got any."
