NotesIn 1887, James Mooney, 13, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 96 children from Catholic Children Protection Society, Liverpool, England, accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Lacy, and en route to Hotel Dieu, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

"Copy of Reports of Inspection of Pauper Children sent out to Canada made by Immigration Officers of the Dominion Government and received from the Colonial Office on the 12th December 1888.

Report of Mr. R. Mcpherson, Government Immigration Agent at Kingston.

James Mooney, aged 13.?From parish of Liverpool. Placed with Alexander Martin, Lot 7 in 4th Con., Pittsburgh Tp., Cushendale P.O. ?Giving satisfaction, in good home, well cared for, not attending school, will be sent during winter."

On February 10, 1915, at Quebec, canada, James Mooney, 45, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in London, England; that his next of kin was Thomas Mooney, who resided at 78 Islington Green, London, England; that he was born in 1875; that he was a sailor; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 8-3/4 inches in height; dark brown hair. He was a member of the Roman Catholic faith. He had tattoo marks / several: snake & palm tree and crossed hands over beard(?) on the back of his right forearm; sailor with Union Jack and name Jack Crawford on the front of his right forearm; bird on nest and P. of W. [illegible] and piper on inside of left forearm; and a scar 3" above and outside of right nipple.
