Notes In 1910, Christopher Negus, 10 (along with brother, Frederick Negus, 12) arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 93 MacPherson children accompanied by Mr. Merry and en route to Stratford, Ontario, Canada.
On December 7, 1915, at Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada, Christopher Negus, 18 [EDITORS NOTE: Christopher was actually only 15 at this time], enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he resided at Kemble R.R. No. 2, Ontario, Canada; that he was born in Essex, England; that his next of kin was his guardian, Mr. J. Crampton, who resided at R. R. No. 2, Ontario, Canada; that he was born on August 12, 1897; that he was a farmer; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 2-1/2 inches in height; fair complexion; gray eyes; fair hair. He was a member of the Church of England. He had a scar in front of his right ear.
Both Christopher and his brother, Frederick, enlisted with the 147th Grey Overseas Battalion. Fred lost an eye in the war.
Christopher Negus, 21, a soldier returned from World War I, died on December 7, 1921, at Euclid Hall Hospital, Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, of cardiac and respiratory failure. He was buried in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada.
