(Rita died after being beaten by her husband, Joseph Taylor, 26, after both had been drinking with neighbors in Sarnia and in their home in Baxter's Beach, near Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. Joseph was sentenced to death in February 1947. Reported by The Lethbridge Herald, February 7, 1947. The sentence was overturned on appeal.
