In 1882, David Northwood, 16, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 41 children from the National Childrens Home accompanied by the Rev. Dr. Stephenson, and en route to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
He married Martha Loughlin (born August 8, 1866) about 1886 in Milton, Ontario, Canada.
At least 6 children were born of this marriage: Frederick Thomas Northwood, born August 7, 1888, in Milton, Ontario, Canada, died 1974 in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada; Elizabeth Northwood, born August 27, 1890, in Milton Heights, Esquesing, Halton, Ontario, Canada; David Northwood, born January 30, 1886, in Ontario, Canada, died September 8, 1894, in Halton, Ontario, Canada by an accident; Rachel Northwood, born June 12, 1895, in Canada; William Northwood, born 1892, died 1893; and Arthur John Northwood, born January 16, 1902.
David worked in the brickworks in Milton, Ontario, Canada, and later in construction. His eldest son, David, died in 1894 in an accident in a Milton trainyard - he was 11. Mr. Northwood died in 1955 at the age of 87. He is interred, with his wife, Martha, and three of their children, in Evergreen Cemetery, Milton.
