Notes In 1937, Robert Oxford, 14, arrived at Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in a group of children from the Church of England Waifs & Strays and en route to the Gibbs Home, Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada.

Born on October 11, 1922 in Newport, Isle of Wight, England. Bob immigrated to Canada as a Home Child, arriving at the Gibbs Home in Sherbrooke, Quebec at age 15. He was one of the last surviving Home Children in Quebec. He served as a trooper with the Sherbrooke Fusiliers Regiment (27th Canadian Armoured Regiment) during World War II in France and Germany, and participated in the liberation of Holland in 1945. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 1 pm at the Cass Funeral Home, 3006 College St. Sherbrooke ( Lennoxville ). The Ven. Heather Thompson officiating.
Loving spouse of the late Pearl Irene Washburn, he was a cherished father to the late Stewart (Susan Hayes), Allan (Judy Cole), Max (the late Nancy Singleton) and Ellen (Jeff Loomis). He also leaves to mourn his grandchildren Joshua, Timothy, Jeffrey, Graham, Jordan, Brittany, Kaitlyn and Courtney as well as his great-grandchildren Ryann, Nicholas and Izabelle"
