He declared that he was born in Bristol, England; that his next of kin was Mrs. Elizabeth Paul, who resided at 1701 Paradise Row, St. John, New Brunswick, Canada; that his date of birth was May 21, 1890; and that he was a laborer. He was described as 5 foot 4-1/2 inches in height; light complexion; blue eyes; light brown hair. He was a member of the Church of England. He had distinguishing marks of a scar on the right side of his chin; tattoo of cowboy and heart on right forearm; and tattoo of tree (?) and Maltese cross on left forearm.
Private George William Paul died on June 3, 1916. Commonwealth War Graves Registers and Circumstances of Casualty state he was Killed in Action at the attack of Armagh Wood near Mount Sorrel, Ypres, West Flanders, Belgium. He is buried in MAPLE COPSE CEMETERY, Belgium (Grave Reference: II. C. 6.)
